To our Golden Hawk alumni,
As the new President of the Wilfrid Laurier University Alumni Association, I am honoured to connect with you for the first time in this role. I graduated from Laurier in 2016 with a BA in Anthropology, and today I am a Lead Partner Marketing Manager at Air Canada. My passions include camping, reading, cheering on the Blue Jays and hosting gatherings, all rooted in a love of bringing people together. That is exactly what I hope to do in this role: create opportunities for Laurier alumni to reconnect, get involved and contribute to our vibrant community.
This past year, WLUAA proudly supported a variety of initiatives that strengthened both Laurier and our surrounding communities. We provided sponsorship funding for the Brantford Mural, Winter’s A Drag, International Women’s Day celebrations and the Laurier Hub for Community Solutions conference. In addition, we contributed almost $18,000 to the Partners in Excellence grants, helping to fund innovative student-led projects and programs across the university.
Our Golden Perks program continues to grow, with over 14,000 alumni now taking advantage of more than 60 offers and alumni discounts. This year also welcomed a new Affinity product, Direct Investing with TD, adding even more value to your alumni benefits.
We continue to celebrate the power of connection through events like Homecoming and the Toast to the Class, bringing Laurier spirit to new graduates and alumni alike. And speaking of new graduates, our network has now grown to more than 135,000 alumni worldwide, a truly inspiring testament to the reach of the Laurier family.
I would also like to extend heartfelt thanks to our outgoing president, Kyle Walker (BA ’11), for his dedicated leadership and many contributions to WLUAA. His commitment to fostering alumni engagement and strengthening our community has set a strong foundation for WLUAA’s future.
I am excited for the year ahead and the opportunities to build on this momentum together.
Whether you join us at an event, take advantage of a perk, or give back through mentorship and volunteering, your involvement strengthens our community.
Golden Hawk pride runs deep, so let us keep it soaring.
Stay Golden,
Candice Joseph (BA ’16)
President, Wilfrid Laurier University Alumni Association
