Candice Joseph graduated in 2003 with a BA in Anthropology. Currently, she works as a Partner Manager on the Partner Marketing Team at Aeroplan and is serving as the Vice-President of the Wilfrid Laurier University Alumni Association (WLUAA). Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her nieces and nephews and hopes to one day inspire them to also attend Laurier. She enjoys travelling to beachy climates and celebrating her Caribbean culture.
During her time at Laurier, Candice was a Don at Clara Conrad Hall in her third and fourth years. Her goal as a Don was to make sure all the students felt included and had a sense of belonging. This gave her a strong understanding of inclusivity, and how it can be truly woven into all aspects of life.
“I carry this foundation with me to this day and aim to be a safe space for everyone I meet even now, more than 20 years later. Golden Hawks always show love and stick together,” she says.
In 2020, Candice set a personal goal of finding more ways to give back to her community. During the pandemic, she made herself available to support and mentor students. Her involvement led her to apply for the WLUAA board which gave her a way to stay connected with a community that she truly loves. Candice said that while everyone on the board had different experiences throughout their time at Laurier, that they all graduated feeling like they belonged, and that feeling persists to this day.
I wish everyone knew that the board works to continually find ways to improve and innovate the Laurier community and footprint. We work with staff and students alike to enrich the experience of students past and present. By supporting Laurier’s values and commitments to creativity, sustainability, justice and learning (to name a few), we are continually adding value to Laurier degrees and ultimately, play a part in creating a lasting and meaningful legacy for all Laurier alumni.
Are you also looking to get involved and make an impact? Apply to join the WLUAA Board and we will be in contact to discuss opportunities.
