Laurier mourns the passing of honorary alumna Ann Weir

Wilfrid Laurier University mourns the passing of Ann Weir, public health nurse, mother of four, wife of former Laurier President John Weir (1982-1992) and treasured friend of Laurier for over 40 years. Ann passed away on March 10, 2026. She was 94 years old.

Ann was made an honorary alumna of Laurier in 1987 to recognize the many ways she contributed to the university during John’s presidency. She and John established the John and Ann Weir Masters in Economics Scholarship and the Dr. John Weir Economics Award of Distinction.
