Laurier was once again honoured with awards at this year’s Canadian Council for the Advancement of Education (CCAE) Prix d’Excellence, winning a silver medal for Best Fundraising Event and a bronze medal for Best Alumni Event.
Steven Page at Laurier with the Penderecki String Quartet, a component of Laurier’s successful Making Space for Music campaign, won silver for Best Fundraising Event. The acclaimed Canadian musician and his son, alumnus Isaac Page (BMus ’18), performed in front of a full house at the Theatre Auditorium on the Waterloo campus.
The Social Justice & Community Engagement (SJCE) 10 Year Reunion, hosted as part of Homecoming on Laurier’s Brantford campus, won bronze for Best Alumni Event. The event welcomed SJCE alumni, current students, staff and faculty for a zine-making workshop with Hamilton-based artist Sonali Menezes.
"A heartfelt thank you to all the staff who supported these initiatives. We also extend our gratitude to the alumni, staff, faculty, donors and community members who participated in these activities and continue to support Laurier, helping make these efforts into award-winning successes," says Jason Coolman, vice-president of Advancement and External Relations.
